SHANE SLAMA | Game & Encounter Designer

GAME & ENCOUNTER DESIGNER

Hey there!

I’m currently looking for the next opportunity to be a part of game studio in need of my expertise creating epic combat encounters of any shape or size. If you’re interested to talk more I’d love to hear from you!

Previously I was employed at ZeniMax Online Studios as the Lead Dungeon Designer. My team was focused on instanced content for groups of players including dungeons, trials (raids), arenas and large scale event zones. Developing boss encounters that really engage players was a dream come true and it was thrilling to watch players tackle the content we produced. I was privileged to be a part of that talented group and look forward to crafting more content with all the lessons learned from that experience.

My prior position was at Bioware, and there I really got a great crash course in game development from a fantastic development team. We shipped the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic in December of 2011. I served as an Assistant Designer. My responsibilities included scripting encounters, designing combat scenarios, dynamically spawning class instances, world building, managing multiple game systems, and working closely with team members to create the best content possible.

Before Bioware I was a student at The Guildhall. There I earned my Master’s Degree while simultaneously working on team projects involving Torque X Builder 2D and Unreal.

Going farther back, my initial career choice was graphic communications. I studied all things Adobe and honed my skill at laying out graphics and text. I landed a job at Casino Enterprise Management where I was promoted to Production Manager within six months. I oversaw the creation of a monthly publication along with event materials and advertisements.
